For The Wars 02:30
Midnight when the plane lands Step outside the front doors Moons rise as we wave hands For the wars Soldiers, let your hairs down Spread your chips across the floor Choose now whom you’ll stare down For the wars Time was we were digging holes in the earth We said we must be in China now Now that we’re here just to see what it’s worth Well it’s more than I’d allow
2.
So neither one of us was much for common sense Rolling numbers to predict the presidents You let me sleep until the middle of the day Made you happy just to watch me drift away I always thought that I would do the same for you Body rising from the earth to pay the rent But in the morning your arms and legs were blue I thought it was an accident If Heather never walks again she’ll walk again Bad luck been breaking me lately Is she only getting sick cause she hates me? At the moment it is hard to find her But she’ll revive the dialogue someday Everyone moves away Does she still wait for me to remind her You don’t have to entertain me Just feel better Doctor’s orders say no visitors after dark So I’m outfoxed by the patriarch Now he says you’d better leave or it’s your ass Sit in the parking lot and miss my evening class I cried a little as I read your magazine As dedicated as we were to staying clean Now there’s methadone on my face I could’ve given you some space When she runs, don’t try to get her Though your friends say never say never When she runs, lie down and let her When she runs, she’s gone forever And though I’ll never dream again I’ll dream again Is there a difference between knowing and faking? Is objectivity just there for the taking? Heather doesn’t answer the door The only bed we know turns cold Everyone’s getting old Performance standards don’t apply anymore

Feeling so empty inside Without your love my heart is caving on all sides Turn on my TV baseball Drowning my sorrows in a beer-colored ocean I’m letting it all hang out Because I’m never gonna let you go Heather, just let me know I’m hanging out on the borderline Believe I mean it when I say I’ll go Heather just let me know Is this love or not? I’m so outta line Here at the rink alone It’s couples’ skate and I’m waiting by the telephone (I know you don’t know the number) I feel like a loser I strap on my skates but it’s hard cause I’m such a boozer Putting on all this weight Because I’m never gonna let you go Heather just let me know I think I’m running out of time Believe I mean it when I say I’ll go In your heart you know I really won’t Til I call you one last time I’m so outta line I wanna know, I need to know Cause you’re always on my mind Never gonna stop Cause it’s lonely at the top Heather, no!
4.
Heather, how can you keep it together When I feel like I’m losing my mind If I hear one more note I’m gonna slit my throat Cause I just can’t take it tonight Heather, you’ve gotta keep it together Cause I feel like I’m losing my mind This band has got us in a rage My friends are shouting at the stage They’re jamming and there’s no end in sight You’re from a foreign land My friends and I are gonna make a guess I’m saying Eastern Europe, and you just laugh it off Is everyone as tall and thin And blonde as you where you’re from Is Iceland hot like those leather knee-high boots? This drink is going down And you’re killing me when you speak We’re chilling on a bench outside Now I can really hear your voice It’s corny but you sound just like Björk Living in Chicago It’s typical of life in the Midwest You know L.A. is fake, and New York is crazy as hell

about

This EP is the result of a dare. Each member of Baby Teeth was to write and home-record a song in airtight seclusion. The three songs would share nothing more than a title: “Heather”. Beyond that, each member was left completely to his own devices. After several months of secretive labor, it was time for the great unveiling. Initial reactions were of shock and surprise. Then, some joy. This extended-play release is for the Heathers.
